Rise of Kingdoms: Alexander Nevsky Talent Tree Build and Guide Update 2025

Alexander Nevsky History:

Alexander Nevsky was a 13th-century Russian political, military, and strategist who not only defended his people from German and Swedish invaders but also skillfully preserved Russian independence through skillful diplomacy against the unprecedented threat from Genghis Khan's “Golden Horde.”

Alexander Nevsky's first major victory over Russian invaders came in 1240, when the Russian army defeated a major Swedish attack on the banks of the Neva River. This remarkable victory brought considerable prestige and political influence to Alexander, who quickly became known as the “Hero of the Neva.”

Alexander Nevsky was forced to contend with another powerful invasion in the form of the Teutonic Knights only the following year, which he defeated against his Novgorod forces in a decisive victory on the frozen waters of Lake Peipus near Estonia, which has come to be known as the “Battle on the Ice”. Alexander’s victory here marked the end of the Teutonic Knights’ dreams of conquest to the east and proved a significant boost to Russia’s growing military power.

Alexander Nevsky’s next challenge came from the “almost unstoppable” Mongol Golden Horde. Alexander acted as a skillful diplomat and mediator between the Mongols and the various Russian republics at the urging of the Pope, thus preserving his Slavic alliance. Unfortunately, Alexander’s subsequent death proved too much for the fraying threads that held these republics together, which soon fractured once more into rival states. Alexander was subsequently made a revered figure of the Russian Church by Metropolite Macarius, and his heroic status would be repeatedly invoked in later years – such as by Stalin, who called Alexander a “People’s Hero.”

Alexander Nevsky Review:

Alexander Nevsky deals massive damage to a single target enemy (Damage coefficient is 2300) and gives the enemy a defense reduction effect of up to 45% when the enemy is surrounded by 3 or more troops.

Alexander Nevsky also increases survivability with his second skill (increases cavalry's health by 20%) and third skill (increases cavalry's defense by 20% and reduces damage from surrounded targets by 5%).

Alexander Nevsky was now one of the two strongest cavalry commanders (the other being Huo Qubing ), and he could defeat even infantry (cavalry counterattacks) on open ground.

Best pairings for Alexander Nevsky:

Open field: Huo Qubing (Nevsky is the sub-commander) – Highest single target damage combo.

Rally: Justinian I

Open field/Rally: Joan Prime (Nevsky is the main commander)

Open field/Rally: Xiang Yu (Nevsky as sub-commander) - this is the glass cannon commander combo (deals the most damage but also takes the most damage from enemies). Note that Xiang Yu as the main commander is currently the most targeted in KvK open field combat.

Open field: Saladin (Saladin as the main commander) - This is the "worth it" commander combo, as you only need Saladin to be at 5551 to be good enough for this to work. Saladin's Support talent allows active skills to trigger more often (due to the "Burning Blood" and "Rejuvenate" talents giving more Rage), which works very well when combined with Nevsky's massive active skill damage. The Support talent also provides protection against skill damage ("Loose Formation" - 9% skill damage reduction), which increases the survivability of the army. Saladin also increases the survivability of the army with his second skill (20% cavalry defense bonus) and third skill (30% skill damage reduction and 20% counterattack damage reduction).

Open field: Chandragupta Maurya (Chandragupta is the main commander) – When Chandragupta is the main commander, his active skill will trigger first, increasing his damage by 40%. This triggers Chandragupta's active skill, which then triggers Nevsky's fourth skill (increases skill damage by 35% for 4 seconds when using an active skill), which then triggers Nevsky's active skill of 2300. The damage multiplier is enhanced by the two damage increases mentioned above. Furthermore, Chandragupta increases the survivability of his troops with his third skill (increases cavalry's health by 20%) while also reducing the target's health and defense.

Open field: Mehmed II (Nevsky is the main commander) – Mehmed adds the following buffs to Nevsky: Mehmed's Relic increases Army Health by 20% and Skill Damage by 5%; Mehmed's fourth skill grants 10% troop capacity; Mehmed's second skill grants 20% attack power and 20% skill damage; Mehmed's main skill deals 1150 Damage Multiplier (1350 when Specialized) to up to 5 targets. All of these buffs increase Nevsky's survivability and skill damage.

Open field: Minamoto no Yoshitsune (Nevsky is the main commander) – Minamoto’s relic increases cavalry’s Defense by 20% and cavalry’s Attack by 25% – a significant boost to Nevsky’s damage and survivability in open combat. Minamoto also deals massive single target damage – 1400 Damage Multiplier + 50% chance (75% when specialized) to gain additional damage per second (600 Damage Multiplier). Finally, Minamoto’s fourth skill grants a debuff to enemies (10% chance to increase target damage taken by 30% for 3 seconds), which can be devastating when combined with Nevsky’s high skill damage.

Open field: William I (Nevsky is the main commander) – William 's active skill removes the enemy's ability to increase their additional skill damage and reduce their march speed, which is very important in the latest KvK outdoor combat environment, with new commanders like Scipio /Nevsky / Boudica Prime dealing massive damage supported by sub-commanders who provide skill damage buffs.

Barbarian Fortress Rally: Minamoto ( Minamoto is the main commander)
