Minamoto no Yoshitsune Review:
Minamoto is a legendary commander that you can only get by topping up your coins.
Minamoto is valuable because he is very strong in hunting/gathering barbarian fortresses and PvP (early game).
The Minamoto Relic in the Museum adds a 20% increase to Cavalry Defense and 25% to Cavalry Attack - a huge boost to the Minamoto in terms of damage and survivability in open field combat.
Minamoto Commander Skills:
Rage requirement: 1000
Minamoto's main attack skill deals very strong damage with a total potential multiplier of 2,000, for a commander released quite early in the game.
Passive skill 1:
The passive bonus to attack (20%) and march speed (10%) is huge. Just make sure he's leading a cavalry charge to get the bonus.
Passive Skill 2: Sword Master
50% bonus damage to barbarians makes Minamoto the strongest commander against barbarians and barbarian fortresses.
Passive skill 3:
Increasing the damage the target takes by 30% for 3 seconds is great, but the 10% chance to activate this passive skill reduces the appeal of this skill compared to other skills.
Expertise:
Minamoto's Specialty skill increases the average damage dealt by Minamoto's first skill (Kyohachiryu) as it increases the chance to deal additional damage from 50% to 75%.
Best pairings for Minamoto:
Open field: Alexander Nevsky (Minamoto as sub-commander) – Like Minamoto, Nevsky deals massive single-target damage to enemies (Damage multiplier is 2300) and grants enemies a defense reduction effect of up to 45% when surrounded by 3 or more troops. Nevsky also gains increased durability/toughness with his second skill (increases cavalry by 20% health) and third skill (increases cavalry by 20% defense and reduces damage from surrounded targets by 5%). Minamoto's fourth skill gives enemies a debuff effect (10% chance to increase target damage by 30% for 3 seconds), which can be devastating when combined with Nevsky's high skill damage.
Open field (early game): Genghis Khan (Minamoto is the secondary commander)
Barbarian Rally: Cao Cao (Minamoto as the main commander) or Alexander Nevsky (Minamoto as the main commander)
