Æthelflæd History:
Æthelflæd, ruled Mercia in the English Midlands from 911 until her death. Born at the height of the Viking invasion of England, she grew up in a land of war, fighting a losing battle against the Danish conquerors. It is said that Æthelflæd ruled in her husband's place for a decade after he fell ill. When he died in 911, Æthelflæd became Myrcna hlædige, 'Lady of the Mercians'. By the time of her death, she had taken back much of England and was ready to surrender.
Æthelflæd Review:
Æthelflæd is a Legendary Commander that players can obtain for free in the Game. By making progress in the Expedition Campaign, players will earn (“Conqueror’s Medals”) and can claim daily chest rewards from the Campaign, including additional Conqueror’s Medals and (“Warrior Queen’s Treasures”). Medals can be exchanged for items in the Campaign Medal Shop – Commander Æthelflæd Sculpture (up to 3 per day), Epic Commander Sculpture, and Radiant Starlight Sculpture. Opening the “Warrior Queen’s Treasures” chest will randomly grant players Commander Æthelflæd Sculpture, Universal Legendary Commander Sculpture (very rare reward), Epic Commander Sculpture, Silver Key, or Gold Key. You should accumulate/stockpile “Warrior Queen's Treasure” chests and open a large number of chests at once to have a higher chance of getting the legendary commander Æthelflæd/Universal sculpture.
Æthelflæd is often used by players as a Peacekeeper commander - to hunt down barbarians and/or lead protests against barbarian fortresses. Note that her fourth ability increases the attack power of her troops by 20% if the troops she leads in a rally include 3 or more different types of units.
Some players in the Game use Æthelflæd as a main commander in open field battles but I think that is a bad idea because she is weak as a main commander and thus is always the first target in open field battles when spotted by enemies. If you have to use Æthelflæd in open field battles, make her a secondary commander.
