Xiang Yu History:
Xiang Yu was the king of Chu during the last years of the Qin Dynasty. His grandfather, Xiang Yu, was a famous general, politician, and military strategist.
A natural warrior, Xiang Yu joined his uncle Xiang Liang's rebellion against the Qin Dynasty and received widespread praise for the success of that rebellion. At the Battle of Julu in 207 BC, Xiang Yu led only 50,000 troops to defeat 400,000 Qin troops. Soon after, Xiang Yu's troops invaded Guanzhong, burned the palace, and killed the entire Qin royal family.
In 206 BC, the Han emperor sent troops to conquer Xiang Yu. While Xiang Yu won battles elsewhere, a combination of betrayal and lack of supplies led to his final defeat in 202. Rather than be captured, Xiang Yu chose to take his own life. Historians have portrayed him as a man of unparalleled courage, though perhaps reckless.
Xiang Yu Review:
How to get Xiang Yu Commander Sculpture: Lucky Spin
Xiang Yu deals fan-shaped area of effect (AoE) damage to targets through his active skill, which is rare for a cavalry commander (William's AoE is rectangular). While the damage rapidly decreases by 25% for each additional target, his active skill causes the target's defense to decrease by 30% for 3 seconds.
Xiang Yu's rage requirement to activate his first skill is 900, 10% lower than most commanders in Rise of Kingdoms, meaning Xiang Yu deals active skill damage to enemies much faster than other commanders.
Xiang Yu was one of the best cavalry commanders used in open field fighting as well as in rallies.
Priority to upgrade skills for Xiang Yu:
The recommended skill setup for Xiang Yu is 5511, as most of the value when using Xiang Yu can be enjoyed at 5511. His third, fourth skills, and Specializations aren't that great compared to the number of legendary commander sculptures needed to Specialize him.
For players who intend to use him in rallies, the 5515 would be ideal.

Best pairings for Xiang Yu:
Open field/Rally: Alexander Nevsky (Nevsky is the secondary commander) - this is the glass cannon commander combo (deals the most damage but also takes the most damage from enemies). Note that Xiang Yu as the primary commander is currently the most targeted in KvK open field combat.
Open field/Rally: Chandragupta Maurya Specialization (Xiang Yu is the main commander) – Chandragupta increases the survivability of troops with his third skill (increases cavalry's health by 20%) and also reduces the target's health and defense.
Open field/Sunset Gorge: William I (Xiang Yu is the main commander) – William's active skill removes the ability to increase enemy skill damage and march speed, which is very important in the latest KvK offshore battle
Open field/Sunset Gorge: William I (Xiang Yu is the main commander) – William's active skill eliminates the enemy's ability to increase skill damage and march speed, which is very important in the latest KvK open field combat environment, with new commanders like Scipio/Nevsky/Boudica Prime dealing massive damage supported by sub-commanders who provide skill damage buffs. William must be set to at least 5551.
Open field: Saladin (Xiang Yu is the main commander) - This is a "valuable" commander combo, as you only need Saladin to be at 5551 to be good enough for this to work. Saladin increases the survivability of his troops with his second skill (20% cavalry defense bonus) and third skill (30% skill damage reduction and 20% counter damage reduction).
Open Battlefield: Minamoto no Yoshitsune (Xiang Yu is the main commander) – Minamoto’s Relic increases Cavalry Defense by 20% and Cavalry Attack by 25% – a huge boost for Xiang Yu in terms of damage and survivability in open combat. Minamoto also deals massive single target damage – 1400 Damage Multiplier + 50% chance (75% when specialized) to gain additional damage per second (600 Damage Multiplier). Finally, Minamoto’s fourth skill inflicts a debuff on enemies (10% chance to increase target damage taken by 30% for 3 seconds), which can be devastating when combined with Xiang Yu.
