Best Troop Type for Alwyn
To make your setup straightforward, I recommend running full Magic Units in his legion. While he doesn't have specific skills or talents that strictly require full magic units—and the only build that makes sense doesn't heavily invest in the Magic tree—he boosts magic units overall. To keep things consistent and simple, avoid mixing unit types and stick exclusively to Magic Units.
Alwyn Hero Skills
Best Hero Pairings for Alwyn
Velyn is the absolute best pairing option because he is essentially a legendary version of Waldyr in terms of skill kit, creating massive synergy. Since both utilize the Control talent tree, you can run whichever hero is stronger as the primary, making it extremely difficult for enemies to escape or deal with your legion.
Liliya is another fantastic hero to pair alongside Alwyn. She deals tremendous area-of-effect (AoE) damage and features great skill coordination. You can even run her as a deputy hero if your Alwyn has higher skill levels or star ratings than her.
Waldyr works exceptionally well with Alwyn as you can override enemy buffs, apply crowd control, and inflict solid direct damage alongside annoying debuffs. I highly recommend running Alwyn as the primary hero to take advantage of the Control talent tree shown below.
Atheus provides incredible Rage engine benefits with his 3rd skill, which goes a long way in boosting Alwyn's active skill uptime on the field.
Pan can also be paired with Alwyn to form a very durable support march with low kill potential, designed to run alongside main combat legions to ensure target enemies stay locked in place.
Indis functions similarly to Pan but additionally increases damage taken by target enemies, allowing Alwyn to deal higher damage while sustaining legion health through her healing factor.
