Pericles History:
Pericles (c. 495–429 BC) was a Greek politician and general during the Golden Age of Athens. He was prominent and influential in ancient Athenian politics, especially between the Greco-Persian Wars and the Peloponnesian War, and was praised by Thucydides, a contemporary historian, as "the first citizen of Athens".[1] Pericles transformed the Delian League into an Athenian empire and led his countrymen during the first two years of the Peloponnesian War. The period of his leadership of Athens, from approximately 461 to 429 BC, is sometimes referred to as the "Age of Pericles", but the period so denoted may include times as early as the Persian Wars or as late as the following century.
Pericles promoted art and literature, and it was through his efforts that Athens gained its reputation as the educational and cultural center of the ancient Greek world. He began an ambitious project to create most of the surviving structures on the Acropolis, including the Parthenon. This project beautified and protected the city, showing off its glorious beauty and providing jobs for the people. Pericles also promoted Athenian democracy to the point that critics called him a populist. Pericles was descended through his mother from the powerful and historically influential Alcmaeonid family. He, along with several members of his family, succumbed to the Plague of Athens in 429 BC, which weakened the city-state in its long conflict with Sparta.
Pericles Review:
Pericles is a great epic hero that all new players should max out. The great thing is that he is an epic hero, so you should have no problem maxing him out. Now what you have to keep in mind is that Pericles is more of a garrison commander than a commander that you will use to fight on the battlefield.
If you are a new player, we recommend investing in him. He will do a good job of defending your city on new servers, but as you progress in the game, you should consider replacing him with some stronger garrison commanders.
