Sun Tzu was a Chinese general, military strategist, writer, and philosopher who lived during the Eastern Zhou period of ancient China. Sun Tzu is traditionally credited as the author of The Art of War, a widely influential work of military strategy that has influenced both Western and East Asian military philosophy and thinking. Sun Tzu's work has been praised and used throughout East Asian warfare since its composition. During the 20th century, The Art of War became popular and practically used in Western society.
