Are you planning to run or already running Emrys in one of your Call of Dragons legions and want to see how to invest talent points, which artifacts work best, and which heroes to pair him with? Well, you’ve come to the right place. Below, you will find answers to all those questions, helping you make your Emrys as strong as possible in every situation.
Best Troop Types for Emrys
Without overcomplicating things, you want to run Emrys with a full Cavalry legion. The simple reason is that several talent builds specifically benefit Cavalry units, his 3rd skill exclusively buffs Cavalry units, and you'll want to leverage fast Cavalry units in the open field when hunting down enemies.

Best Hero Pairings for Emrys
Bakshi provides incredible buffs for Cavalry, and you can easily run a 5111 Bakshi alongside Emrys to create an extraordinary Cavalry legion. They function as a core ambush march that requires some investment to stay durable, but you can roam the open field and easily ambush other players' marches with this combo.
Hosk is a great pairing, though the required investment is quite high. In return, you gain immense value—survivability, high damage, and extra legion capacity—allowing you to use this fast hit-and-intercept setup to wipe out incoming forces. It may not be ideal for casual players, but it is extremely viable for spenders, which is why I haven't placed him at the very top despite believing this could be Emrys's strongest theoretical pairing.
Theodore grants much-needed tankiness to Emrys’s high-damage kit, helping compensate for his primary weakness: survivability.
Alistair makes a solid partner who deals decent personal damage while building rage faster. Once Emrys reaches max expertise, that extra rage gain instantly converts into 100 Rage. Together, they can spam active skills rapidly while sharing great buffs—an excellent march for stopping enemy flag construction or disrupting forces trying to destroy your flags.
Forondil can work, but there is one notable clash: while they look like a top-tier damage duo on paper, Emrys needs to be attacked to trigger certain effects, whereas with Forondil, you will most likely be chasing down fleeing enemy legions.
Theia paired with the Springwardens faction can pull off terrifying plays. You gain unexpected skill shields and buffs from Theia's 3rd skill, combined with Emrys's mobility and raw damage. It's not a ideal dream team because Emrys boosts hero skill damage while Theia doesn't deal skill damage, but it's an intriguing setup if you play the Springwarden faction.

Best Talent Tree Build for Emrys
This is the most versatile talent tree build for Emrys, offering tremendous utility within the Cavalry tree. Once you unlock the central node (Heart of Balance), move straight into the Cavalry tree to gain additional march speed, increased hero skill damage, and reduced incoming hero skill damage. Emrys doesn't necessarily have to be a glass cannon, but since you will spend most of your time closing the distance against ranged units, extra march speed along with burst defense and attack are exactly what you need. Next, pick Perfect Ferocity to gain a massive hero skill damage boost after cast when engaging in battle. After that, pick up extra damage against Marksman units (since these are often your primary targets), Quick Escape to retreat from bad engagements or relocate quickly, and extra healing from Triumphant Return to sustain field fights longer without returning to city. The final key talent in the Cavalry Tree is Bloodstain, dealing massive burst hero skill damage upon casting your active skill. Allocate your remaining points into the PvP Tree for extra attack, defense, and Health—the single best stat in Call of Dragons. I do not recommend investing heavily into extra rage engine talents because Emrys already generates plenty of rage and hits rage caps easily; any excess rage provides no additional benefit. Finally, Luck of the Draw further reduces incoming damage, completing the overall best talent setup for Emrys.
This second talent build is heavily damage-focused, featuring high movement speed to quickly join or exit combat. While I wouldn't recommend it universally, this build shines if you pair Emrys with a secondary deputy who already provides high sustain and survivability, as it turns your march into a formidable glass cannon. Begin this build with the central node and transition directly into the PvP tree, enhancing damage output, march speed, and Health to unlock Luck of the Draw. From there, grab extra movement speed, bonus damage, and healing effects to extend your field presence and hunt target after target. Finally, grab Vigor for a great HP boost. Spend your remaining points in the Cavalry Tree for extra march speed, damage, and damage reduction, finishing with Perfect Ferocity to boost that crucial first skill cast.
