In Where Winds Meet, players can choose to join various sects. However, each sect features its own unique unlocking requirements, requiring players to complete a specific quest line. This article provides a detailed walkthrough on how to join the Heavenly Well Sect (Tianquan Sect) – one of the most popular sects among players.
1. Location and How to Start Joining the Heavenly Well Sect
If you want to join the sect the "standard" way, you do not need to follow the main sect questline guidance for Heavenly Well. Instead, head directly to the exact location of the Recruiting Elder – Zhang Yihao.
Note: Some players mention that it is possible to join the sect without undergoing trial tests, though this remains unconfirmed. The author was tricked by Nine Mortal Ways and ended up discovering this method by accident!
After meeting Zhang Yihao, simply follow the quest markers to proceed.
2. Meet Cheng Shi and Find Three Victims
You will be tasked with finding Cheng Shi in the eastern area of the pottery kiln. Afterward, you need to visit three different locations to talk with three victims.
2.1. Victim Near the Pottery Kiln – Inside the Cave
- Enter the cave and speak with the character.
- On the right side of the cave, you will find explosive barrels.
- Drag an explosive barrel to the blocking boulder to detonate it.
- Just one barrel is enough to break the rock, but if you wish to send him straight to heaven, you can use all three barrels.
2.2. Victim at Fuma Manor
Located right up in a tree near the teleport point.
- After talking to him, you must defeat three large geese.
- In the author's words: "This guy is even worse – robbing and attempting murder at the same time!"

2.3. Victim Northwest of Fenghua Village
- Talk to him, then you need to cook a meal for him.
- After eating, he will demand 1,000 coins from you, concluding this quest segment.
3. Return to Find Cheng Shi – Tracking the Footsteps
Return to Cheng Shi's initial location, but he has already vanished.
- Press V to activate hearing/tracking mode.
- Follow the footprints to the quest objective marker.
- Once there, stand in the exact spot to eavesdrop, guided by the displayed icon.
And then it's time to...
4. "Settle the Score"
You will be assigned to confront the mastermind behind it all.

5. Return to Zhang Yihao – Unlock Sect Joining Requirements

– An item obtained through co-op party activities.
6. How to Obtain "Ill-gotten Assets"
- Use persuasion, healing skills, or special interactions with NPCs who carry these items to acquire them.
- Press V to enter hearing mode – you can check whether an NPC carries "ill-gotten assets."
7. How to Obtain "Four Seas Invitation"
- This is an item reward from co-op alliance events.
- The drop rate is reasonably fair and not overly difficult.
